Recently the Obama administration has given authority to the Commerce Department to give all Americans a unique online ID.  

Details are scant at this point but the premise of it is that instead of having separate accounts on different websites, all of your accounts would be set to match with your online ID.  This would make it so that all the information about what websites you use would be available in one place, and unless stringent and unlikely security measures were implemented, that information would not be accessible just to you.

The reason given by the administration for this is to make it so you don't have to remember a username and password for each website you use.  If that's the case, people should be able to opt out of using the online ID system.  Sign this petition if you support the idea that such an online ID system should be completely optional, and that no website should not function for a user if they refuse to opt into the online ID system.
