The Issue

For the past 18 years, my daughter has attended Osborne court, a wonderful adult disability respite care facility in Great Malvern run with dedication and compassion. It has been more than just a care service to my family—it has been a lifeline. Osborne court, staffed by committed professionals who have become an extension of our family, provides essential respite for not just my daughter, but many other individuals and their carers. For many years, this facility has been a cornerstone of support for people with disabilities in our community.

Recently, we have been heartbroken by the tragic news of its impending closure, a decision made by Worcester County Council in a bid to save money. The closure of Osborne Court would not just disrupt the lives of the users who depend on it, but would also mean the devastating loss of jobs for the dedicated staff who have cared for our loved ones as though they were their own.

Without Osborne Court, dozens of families, including ours, will be left in an untenable position. Where can we turn in our times of need? This isn't merely a matter of convenience—it's about survival and quality of life for those most vulnerable. Osborne Court offers not only care but critical support and understanding tailored to the unique needs of our loved ones.

We must fight to make this closure public and advocate for a reconsideration of this catastrophic decision. The community deserves transparency about the parameters leading to such a significant decision. Worcester County Council must explore alternative cost-saving measures that do not strip away such an essential service.

I'm calling for your support to keep Osborne Court open and running. Sign this petition to demand transparency and to reconsider the closure to safeguard the future of those who rely so heavily on its services. Together, we can ensure that a financial decision does not tear the fabric of our community apart.
