The Issue

Until recently I had been on prescription opioids for 20 years for joint pains due to osteoarthritis and hypermobility syndrome. The toll of these medications has been immense on my life. Every day, I had hope for an alternative, a solution that would allow me to live free from the shackles of opioids and away from the pain that has overshadowed my everyday life.

Journavx, a promising non-opioid medication, stands as a beacon of hope for many like me who suffer from chronic pain. Currently, this medication is being targeted and priced for post-operative acute pain, leaving us—those with ongoing chronic conditions—without the lifeline we desperately need. The affordability and accessibility of Journavx for those suffering from chronic pain conditions must be addressed.

According to recent studies, over 50 million adults in the United States live with chronic pain, many without adequate treatment options. With opioid use disorder affecting at least 2 million Americans annually, transitioning to non-opioid solutions like Journavx could significantly reduce these numbers. This statistical evidence emphatically underscores the urgent need for broader applications of non-opioid medications in managing chronic conditions.

Therefore, we call upon pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers, and policymakers to make Journavx affordable and accessible for chronic pain patients. If developed and distributed effectively, this medication can serve as a critical component in mitigating the opioid crisis and improving the quality of life for potentially millions of people who are tired of living in pain but have no viable alternative.

Every voice matters in this call for change. Join us in urging stakeholders to prioritize a versatile and humane approach, ensuring Chronic pain sufferers are given the dignified and appropriate care they deserve through access to Journavx. Please sign this petition to support a future where pain relief does not equate to opioid dependence.
