Make Halloween/Samhain an official Federal Holiday for Pagans!

The Issue

For over 2000 years, Paganism has been kept on the back burner of religious beliefs. It has never been recognized as an official religious belief system in the United States despite the fact that MANY Pagans, Spiritualists and those not of the Abrahamic belief system, live here! And yet it seems that the only choices we get are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or "Other".

Halloween has been around for a very long time in various forms and by various names. It is a time to remember the dead, to honor the ancestors, to enjoy individuality and expression of ideas. It is a time for children to let their imaginations run wild!

Samhain is the commonly known predacessor to Halloween. Pagans take this time very seriously to do various rites and to honor ancestral ties. To have feasts, and to decorate and more deeply immerse themselves in the spiritual realm. Why this very widely celebrated belief has been reduced to a commercial fun day is obvious. Paganism has been all but welcome in our country.

From the Witch trials of Salem in recent centuries and other such superstitious cruelty done to Pagans throughout history, it is a time we honor those who were accused of being a "Witch" and killed. Those people were never honored or remembered either! Salem Massachusetts is now an epicenter for witches and all things supernatural. But this time of year is appropriate for remembering the lives lost in the various inquisitions that took place then and for all the years before.

Pagans were killed or forced to convert to Christianity. All throughout history over the course of 2000 years, so many were killed in the name of wiping Paganism out in advance of the rising of the New World Order.

We feel that October 30 - November 1st should be a time to observe this historical truth, and to allow Pagans to do the traditions they love! Halloween should not be for candy companies to get rich. While these modern traditions are fun and should continue, Halloween should be for Pagans, and for honoring those lives lost to cruel inquisition! It is the only one we have left after Yule and the Equinox celebrations were either ignored or transformed into something else.

Please support our campaign for change!
