Make DkIT parking a private car park

The Issue

The parking situation at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) has become increasingly problematic for students and apprentices who rely on it daily. With limited parking spaces available on campus, many of these are unduly occupied by individuals who are not affiliated with DkIT. These unauthorized users often park their vehicles and commute to Dublin, leaving legitimate campus users in a bind.

DkIT students and apprentices pay fees that contribute to maintaining the campus, including the parking facilities. It is only fair that we have priority access to these amenities. Currently, the overflow of non-student vehicles results in stress, lost time, and increased costs for students forced to seek alternative parking solutions.

The most effective solution to this issue is to designate DkIT parking as a private facility, reserved exclusively for students and verified personnel. By implementing a system of permits or access cards, DkIT can ensure that those who rightfully need these spaces are the ones using them. This would greatly reduce the congestion, making parking at DkIT a smoother and more efficient experience.

We kindly request the DkIT administration to take immediate action by instituting a formal policy restricting parking on campus to students, apprentices, and registered staff. This change would not only alleviate congestion but also enhance the overall student experience on campus.

Support us in making DkIT parking private and secure for its rightful users. Sign the petition now to help us bring about this necessary change.
