Make D-Day a Public Holiday

The Issue

June 6, 1944, marked the historic D-Day invasion during World War II, a turning point that led to the liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation. This day should be recognised as a public holiday to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Allied forces. Over 156,000 troops from the UK, US, Canada, and other nations participated in this monumental event.

By making June 6 a public holiday every year, we would unite people in paying respects and acknowledging the impact of the sacrifices made for our present and future. It would give UK citizens the opportunity to commemorate the valor displayed during this pivotal day, whilst ensuring future generations remember this crucial moment in history.
