Make All Montreal Metro Stations Fully Wheelchair Accessible

Make All Montreal Metro Stations Fully Wheelchair Accessible
The Issue
Despite being a city known for its inclusivity and diversity, Montreal's metro system is not fully accessible to all. Currently, only 27 out of the 68 metro stations in Montreal are wheelchair accessible. This means that over half of the stations lack the necessary infrastructure to accommodate individuals with mobility impairments. Moreover, many of these metro stations have platforms that are too low to be considered to be accessible. This lack of accessibility not only limits their freedom of movement but also undermines their ability to participate fully in society.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which Canada ratified in 2010, recognizes access to transportation as a fundamental right for people with disabilities. By failing to make all metro stations wheelchair accessible, we are failing our commitment towards creating an inclusive society.
We urge the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and relevant authorities to take immediate action by implementing necessary modifications across all metro stations. Let's make our public transportation system truly public by ensuring it is accessible for everyone.
Please sign this petition and support our call for full accessibility in Montreal Metro Stations.
