Amidst the recent unsettling events and war in Sudan, our local network services and telecom companies have collapsed. Many of us have been displaced to rural areas where the internet, if available at all, is slow and incapable of supporting learning or completing online work. Despite its low quality, it remains expensive.

Starlink has been our lifeline in these challenging times. We rely on it for remote work, online learning - which has become our only option due to education being disrupted for more than a year now - as well as for financial transactions and staying connected with loved ones.

However, we are facing the threat of losing this vital service due to the enforcement of suspension on regional roaming service plans for Sudanese accounts by Starlink.

We request that Starlink reconsider this decision. The loss of Starlink would not only further isolate us but also hinder our ability to rebuild our lives amidst ongoing conflict.

According to a report by Freedom House (2020), internet access is essential for economic development and democratic participation especially in countries undergoing political transition like Sudan.

Therefore we urge you not just as users but as citizens striving against adversity; please keep Starlink active in Sudan. Your support will ensure that thousands can continue their education, work remotely safely from their homes during these turbulent times while also maintaining contact with their loved ones.
