Naming of Pavillion at Royal Columbian Hospital

Naming of Pavillion at Royal Columbian Hospital
The Issue
We the undersigned ask: That you name the new pavilion at Royal Colombian Hospital after the former Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for New Westminster Mr. Dennis Geoffrey Cocke, Minister of Health from 1972-1975. Mr. Cocke served in the legislature from 1969-1986 and was a compassionate and effective representative embracing the needs of the people.
During his term as health minister along with the then coroner, Mr. Doug Jack, he created the BC Ambulance Service replacing a patchwork of private and municipal enterprises with a province-wide system including professional standards and certification. As well, he orchestrated the development of newly designed and purpose-built ambulance vehicles. He also led the building of Queen's Park Hospital, the reconstruction of Royal Columbian Hospital and was instrumental in developing community based health clinics.
As a result of his contributions for the people living in New Westminster and the Province of British Columbia there is no other person more deserving of this tribute. Mr. Cocke’s contributions must not be forgotten.
