I'm starting this petition because at our school, the uniform policy is so strict that accumulating just three uniform points leads to an afterschool detention. As students, we believe that unfairly rigid uniform rules do not contribute to a positive learning environment but instead add unnecessary stress and pressure.

Our uniforms are intended to create equality and a distraction-free environment, but when the focus shifts excessively onto minor uniform infractions, it detracts from the real purpose of schooling—to learn and grow in a supportive environment. Whether it's the length of a skirt, the color of socks, or a slightly different shade of shoes, should these really determine if a student deserves detention?

Numerous studies suggest that schools with more relaxed uniform policies do not experience a decrease in academic performance or discipline. In fact, they often report happier and more engaged students who feel more comfortable in their learning environment. Schools in Finland, which have some of the highest academic success rates globally, do not enforce strict uniforms. This serves as a powerful example of how less rigidity can foster a more conducive learning atmosphere.

We understand the intention behind a uniform policy, but we ask the school administration to focus on the broader purpose of student education rather than penalizing students over trivial dress code issues. Implementing a flexible uniform policy will allow students to express their individuality while still maintaining the decorum expected in an educational setting.
