Limit Voting Rights to UK Passport Holders and UK Born Citizens

Limit Voting Rights to UK Passport Holders and UK Born Citizens
The Issue
I am a UK citizen, born and raised. I truly believe that the course of our nation should be determined by those who call it home by birth or by pledge allegiance to it via passport. This petition seeks to limit voting rights to individuals that hold a UK passport or were born on UK soil.
The United Kingdom is a democratic country, and the core principle of a democratic nation is that the people have a say in their governance. The voice for the governance must emerge from within the nation. Voting right is an only direct democratic tool granted to the citizens to choose their representative. To ensure that the most informed and committed citizens are making decisions, we propose the voting rights to be limited to individuals who were either born in the UK or hold a UK passport, thus have pledged allegiance to the UK.
Our calls are not for a divided society, but rather for one where key national decisions rest with those who have their roots or permanence in this country. We should be listening to those who call our country their home, both by birthright and by choice (Source: Hansard Society).
This change would ensure that the fate of our country is in the hands of those who have the most vested interest and knowledge in its success: the people of the UK themselves. Please, add your signature to this petition so we can make a stride in ensuring our democracy is truly representative of our citizens.
