The issue

As local residents who have personally observed the impacts of unrestricted four-wheel driving along the entire stretch of beach between Northern Bayside Estate and the Southern Glenfield Estate of Drummond Cove beach, we express grave concern about the environmental degradation and safety risks. This beach is not only a cherished communal spot for relaxation and recreation but is also home to local wildlife and unique ecological systems that are being threatened by neglectful driving practices.

Evidence from the Coastal Restoration Trust Organisation demonstrate that vehicular activity on beaches significantly contributes to the increased erosion of our shoreline, damaging both the natural environment and aesthetic beauty of the beach (Source: Dune Restoration Trust New Zealand). Specific to public safety, statistics from the Royal Lifesaving Society of Australia indicate increased risks of accidents on beaches due to heavy vehicle activities (Source: Royal Lifesaving Society Australia).

To protect Drummond Cove Beach, we propose specific restrictions on heavy four-wheel drive access, allowing it only where it's absolutely essential. These restrictions would drastically reduce the current impacts on environment and improve safety standards, allowing us to restore this beautiful shoreline to its natural, pristine condition.

We strongly urge government bodies, environmental protection agencies, and local council to recognise the significance of this issue and take immediate action to restrict heavy four-wheel drive access between John Batten Community Hall and South to the Surfs Up zone at Glenfield Beach Point. Help us preserve Drummond Cove Beach for its inhabitants and visitors alike. Sign this petition to show your support.
