Dear friends of Sea-Eye,

a Ukrainian captain made a strong statement for the Geneva Convention on Refugees earlier this week.

Captain Vasyl Maksymenko and his crew of the container ship KARINA rescued 32 fleeing people from a wooden boat in four meters high waves on Monday. Previously, they had spent three whole days at sea. After the rescue operation, the captain refused to return the people to civil war in Libya, citing the Geneva Refugee Convention.
