Dear friends of Sea-Eye,

Tonight I have some very good news for you! Italy has assigned a safe port for us to disembark and is sending the SEA-EYE 4 to Trapani. The ship will arrive there on Sunday afternoon. We are proud of the crews of the SEA-EYE 4 and the RISE ABOVE who have saved more than 800 lives in 48 hours together. The OCEAN VIKING is also in search of a safe port with over 300 people rescued.

On this mission, we have once again experienced how Rescue Coordination Centres no longer respond to distress calls. The SEA-EYE 4 only got into such an extraordinary situation because Malta neither responded to the distress call of the large wooden boat with over 400 people nor sent help.

We are grateful and relieved that this mission is now coming to an end. But it is important to realize how needed civilian rescue workers are in the central Mediterranean. You can read more about the current situation on our website.

Yours, Gorden Isler
- Chairman of Sea-Eye e. V.
