Earlier this year came a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie with the name The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which as its name suggests has a lot of stuff based around the Super Mario Galaxy games. But of all the stuff featured, Lubba the head honcho of the Lumas and captain of Starship Mario was not one of them. Last year it had been confirmed that Lubba is officially a she, despite all that made it seem otherwise, though I guess that could explain why she never made any later appearances such as with in Mario spinoffs, overall they were probably looking to do such a confirmation for years. Now we know though that the additional storybook in the Switch re-release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 probably wasn’t to promote The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the people at Illumination probably didn’t even know about it at the time they worked on the film, nor that Lubba’s official gender debate was about to be settled, but rather as it was something dropped from the original Wii release of the game due to time constraints.

With however the 3rd Mario Movie from Illumination ends up turning out, which is believed to be either The Super Mario Land Movie or The Super Mario Wonder Movie, Rosalina and her Lumas much like Foreman Spike and the Kongs in the second movie most likely won’t be returning, thus dismissing any chance of us seeing Lubba in the Mario Movies. Unless of course a short film can be done, Illumination has done that before, in it can have a Lubba back when she was a still child named Lu and had a sister named Mari, though Starship Mario probably won’t be featured since there’s be no need for such a spaceship unless Mario himself is involved.
