Batman has become an icon in the Mighty Utah Student Section at the football games in recent years. His popularity with the students and fans rivals that of Swoop. The University of Utah is implementing policies to prohibit masks at sporting events—that means Batman cannot appear to support our teams.

The purpose of this petition isn’t to bully the school into removing their no-mask policy. It was put in place along with other tightening of security following the shooting at UVU. This petition is to show the school how much people love our unofficial mascots as much as they love Swoop:  the Utes’ Batman, the Utah Gorilla, and recently even Spider-man has made appearances.

We want to continue doing what we do with official credentials from the school so that we can continue supporting our teams and so the school can continue keeping people safe. Our security teams and campus police work tirelessly to keep us all safe and we extend our thanks to them.

WE WANT JUSTICE.

And support women’s athletics, too.
