Legalize designated riding areas in the Hunter
The issue
Too many people are getting hurt on the roads because there aren't enough designated places for dirt biking. It's becoming increasingly dangerous and frustrating for us as dirt bike riders. For me, this issue is deeply personal. We love our sport and want to practice it safely and legally, without fear of getting into trouble with the law.
In the Hunter region, there is plenty of bushland that could be transformed into designated dirt bike trails. The community consensus is clear: keep bikes off the streets by giving us somewhere safe and legal to ride. Establishing riding areas would not only enhance the safety for both riders and motorists, but it would also foster a greater sense of community among dirt bike enthusiasts.
By creating these areas, we can reduce the potential for accidents on the roads with cars and pedestrians. Furthermore, it will allow families and individuals alike to enjoy the sport in a controlled and sanctioned environment. It’s a solution that has been successfully implemented in many places around the world, showcasing the benefits of safer streets and happier communities.
We urge local authorities and government bodies to consider the immense benefits these designated riding areas would provide. By collaborating with local dirt bike clubs and riders, we can work together to design and maintain these areas, ensuring they meet safety standards and environmental considerations.
Please sign this petition to support a legal and safe solution for dirt bikers in the Hunter. Together, we can make a change and enjoy our sport without jeopardizing safety or legality. Make your voice heard!
