Protect Our Family Paychecks

With families struggling to make ends meet, Metro’s new regressive wage tax will impact wages and benefits for 70% of all workers in the Tri – County area. It will clobber at least 6,000 struggling local employers and non-profits, reducing pay checks and jobs. This is not a tax on profits or the wealthy - it is a permanent new tax on working people’s wages and benefits.

Small businesses, charities, churches, and colleges will pay the tax.  But Metro employees will not because Metro exempted itself from the tax. So, Metro employees who on average earn $81,661 per year plus an average of $42, 219 in health benefits will not pay one penny of this new tax!

Once approved Metro can change the rate immediately and without voter approval. Then it goes into a pot with no guarantee that it will be spent on any transportation projects which is what metro says they need the tax for.

Too Much Money! Too Little Accountability! Too Little Trust in Metro!

Many residents of Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington County have no idea that this tax is on wages rather than profits.  It is the last thing our small businesses, churches, charities and nonprofits need right now.
