Hello, 

We are Indigenous Youth for the future. I am here today, to get Lac Brochet to open up their eyes and stop throwing the word “youth” around and not doing anything. OUR worst fear is losing our child to drugs and alcohol, losing our culture, our people, ourselves. I have talked to a few youth from Lac Brochet who agrees as well. We are taking matters into our own hands, and knowing what’s right and what is wrong. We, the youth, from Lac Brochet would like to provide assistance, to focus on our youth, starting with our culture. Currently, we are going to actively look for elders/adults who would like to help us knowing more about our culture (including of town elders/adults), or even if it’s means the youth taking control of it now with some guidance/mentors. This is nothing personally, but due to Residential Schools, no one has seemed to realize that we’re going to lose it, we are going to lose our people slowly and we are going to lose ourselves to drugs and alcohol. After a few hundred signatures and talking to youth, we will proceed to move forward to the next step, which is providing a document of events/activities regarding our culture and the youth.
