Make Stanwell Safe

Make Stanwell Safe
Dear Kwasi Kwarteng,
We are writing this petition to address the issue of very high crime rate in Stanwell and we would like you to take some constructive actions against it so we can feel safe in our area.
Attached below is a link which contains Stanwell’s crime statistics for the month of September 2020. We had a total of 232 offences in the month out of which 48% were due to anti-social behaviour and violence/sexual offences alone.
I would like to give you some examples of the crime that has recently taken place in the area and these are just a few from the many:
- A child with special needs was riding a bike on his road and he was physically assaulted by three children.
- Some teenagers were egging the locals, including senior citizens.
- Some teenagers were walking around the area with catapults and throwing stones on house windows and cars.
- A mother and her child were minding their own business and playing in the community playground and they were racially abused by teenagers.
We have reached out to the police on several occasions but they have been unable to help us because either there is no CCTV camera in the area, or the cameras were not working. So, we would like the council to:
- Ensure all the CCTV cameras in the area are functioning.
- Install more CCTV cameras in the area for our safety.
- Ensure all the streetlights are kept on after sunset.
We look forward to hearing from you.
