The Issue

Rhino’s are one of the largest mammals on our planet who generally exceed 1 tonne in weight. They usually have 1 or 2 horns on their nose. Many poachers hunt them down as there is a huge demand in China and Vietnam for their horns. The horns are being used for making traditional medicine as well as a display of success and wealth. Poachers use a tranquillizer gun to bring the Rhino down, then they amputate the horn and leave the innocent creature bleed to die painfully and slowly.

There’s a belief that Rhino’s horn is used as an aphrodisiac to increase sexual desire. However, this belief is not true. These beliefs are responsible for the deaths of thousands of Rhino’s! In the last decade, 9,885 African Rhinos have been mercilessly killed. It is heartbreaking to see Rhino’s on the verge of extinction for medicines that probably don’t even work.

At the beginning of the 20th Century, around 500,000 Rhino’s roamed on earth while as of 2020, approximately 27,000 to 30,000 rhinos are left in the world. Let’s take a pledge to save these Rhino’s and not make these beautiful creatures go extinct.
