The KPE faculty at UofT has announced that first and second year courses will continue to be delivered completely online through the Winter 2022 semester, despite previously promising to implement in-person learning.

This decision fails to account for international and domestic students who have already made living arrangements for the Winter semester.

Second year students have now completed 3 semesters of online learning, and we are struggling. It has severely impacted our learning experience, mental health, social lives, and well-being. Not being able to meet our classmates and make friends has left many of us feeling isolated and alone. Being in a more hands-on program, our learning experience has been quite low, and not at all like what we had been promised. Spending all hours of the day on our computers is not healthy, nor sustainable. We are left feeling very demotivated ahead of the Winter semester, and wondering if and when we will ever have an in person course during our undergrad. The KPE faculty has repeatedly failed to consider the effects it’s decisions have on its students, and we feel completely disregarded in this situation.

We are asking the KPE faculty to consider implementing a hybrid learning model, similar to those employed by other programs at the University throughout the Fall semester.
