Outdoor playing space for Rhos Street pupils
The Issue
Rhos Street Schools new site opened in April 2018. It quickly became apparent that the outdoor play area allocated to Rhos Street was vastly inadequate. This issue was raised at the time with both Denbighshire County Council and Lead Member for Education, Children’s Services and Public Engagement who initially denied any issues. After considerable campaigning they duly admitted that the area was insufficient and agreed to rectify the situation. We are now 2.5 years further on and as yet works are still to begin despite being given dates for the works to commence. Our greatest concern is the direct impact on the Rhos Street school children. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought additional pressures on the school, which makes the completion of these works even more important to keep Rhos Street pupils safe. We would urge you to please sign our petition in the hope of securing a suitable play area that the pupils so greatly deserve.
