Keep the Discord Discriminators!

Keep the Discord Discriminators!
The Issue
Hello! I would like to grab your attention and your signature to potentially help discord prevent the removal of the four numbers at the end of your username, also known as the discriminator. This change removes some of the originality of discord while fixing problems that either don't really exist, or could be solved through simpler, less nuclear means. This change will reduce the attachment to usernames and actually remove some of the charm that discord usernames currently have. Not only this, but impersonation will become a huge issue, as the accounts created first will have first dibs on usernames. Below I will go into significantly more detail as to why their reasoning is contradictory at best.
Discord has said that they're going to remove the discriminator, also known as the four numbers on the end of the username. They gave a list of reasons however none of them actually assist with their point.

So firstly, I'm going to group these two points into the same category because I have a similar rebuttal. This is that the majority of discord users have access to a phone/mobile account and could simply add each other on the spot. From what I could find, there are currently roughly 300 million discord users. There are approximately 100 million downloads on the google play store, and I cannot find how many downloads there are on apple however it is #6 in social networking. This puts it above life360 and right below google meets.
The third issue they bring up is this:

This initially makes sense, however upon further inspection of the restrictions of the new usernames you find the following two clauses: "Usernames are unique to each user and no two users can share the same username" and "Usernames are case insensitive and forced lowercase." Both of these exacerbate the issue that is shown above by allowing there to be less suitable unique usernames. They address this by stating that you can add numbers, underscores, and periods to "embellish your nickname". But to many, some of the charm was being able to choose nearly any nickname you want because it would just throw another set of numbers on the end.

The quantity of people who would change their name enough to warrant getting rate limited is such a small minority. And even then, you could do it multiple times a day in my experience. On top of that, if its a complaint then remove the restriction. There's no need to change the username system.

They could simply enforce a set of rules for your username without removing the discriminator.

Finally, as for the first point here, the post they linked is not knowing the term for a discriminator. I'm sure the majority of people know what you mean by the "four wacky numbers after your discord username," just maybe not by name. As for the second point, it would make sense that nearly half of all friend requests fail, there are a lot of failure points in entering a username anyway.
If you read all this I would like to say thank you for your time and attention. The four wacky numbers are something that are close to my heart and likely many others', and I would hate to see them go.
