Keep specialized education!

Keep specialized education!
The Issue
Hello, I am a student at Grant Park high school in Winnipeg school division. I am in the AP (advanced program) stream at this school. You may or may not know that by the 2025-2026 school year AP, Flex, and general programs will be eradicated in middle school in the Winnipeg School division, and in a few years high school as well. This means no more streaming, everyone will get "equal opportunities". The school division is putting this into place in the name of inclusion. You may think that this all sounds good, people should always be included, but it's more complicated than that. Throughout history, one of the main problems with our education system has been treating students in the same way when everyone learns in different ways. AP, Flex, and General is a change from that old system, and a good one! AP helps people who are able learn with more textbooks and tests to take full advantage of their talent. Flex helps give more opportunities for hands on and project based learners. General is a mix of both and a more classic school stream. The point of these streams is to tailor education for students' needs. Students in these programs only benefit from the diversity of education styles. Because these programs are part of the public school system they give better opportunities to those who cannot afford other education. Once this change in the division occurs the students in Flex and AP who can afford to go to a private school may just do that. Leaving the ones who deserve the same opportunities but simply aren't able to afford them, behind. The division talks about inclusivity and no one being left out. If we allow this to happen then the equality gap between streams will widen in a worse direction. Streams help to prepare students for life beyond high school. Universities and colleges are streamed and that is unavoidable and not likely to change soon. Is it not better to prepare students for their future than make it simple in high school? If you sign this document you agree that we need these streams. The division believes that some feel unincluded, many students I know and myself do not believe that to be true. We need to act now if we want to preserve our future education. Thank you for your consideration.
p.s. Please don’t donate any money, I am not able to remove the prompt but we don’t need it.
