Keep Residential Provision open for SEND Children at Fosseway School

Keep Residential Provision open for SEND Children at Fosseway School
The Issue
One mother is living in fear for her child's educational future as the residential provision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at Fosse Way School in Midsomer Norton faces closure. Her son, like many others, benefits immensely from the 24-hour specialized support provided by the school's residential service. For these children, Fosseway isn't simply a school but a haven supporting their unique needs around the clock.
Despite the evident benefits to the pupils, Bath and North East Somerset Council has decided to withdraw their funding for this vital service under the premise that no children in its care require such a placement. While the council has permitted the current enrollees to complete their year, what comes beyond is uncertain, leaving countless families in despair. This decision not only puts these children at educational risk but affects their overall well-being and growth.
Today, we urge the Bath and North East Somerset Council to reconsider their decision and continue their support for the residential provision. We're asking the council to acknowledge the invaluable difference this service makes in the lives of the children who need it most and continue to fund this provision.
By signing this petition, we’re taking a step towards protecting the educational rights and quality of life of SEND children at Fosseway School. Sign the petition and make your voice heard for SEND children's right to education and support to gain valuable life skills!
