Keep Post Offices in Low-Income Areas Open

The Issue

The Pearlbrook Station post office serves as a vital link for more than 20,000 residents and 1,000's of small businesses in an aging inner-ring neighborhood of Cleveland. Senior citizens make up more than 17% of the business at Pearlbrook Station, and would be disproportionately affected by it's closing. The "one-size-fits-all" measure that the United States Postal Service uses to determine a post office branch's viability is unreasonable in a low-middle income census track where the service is far more vital than in wealthier suburban areas where private courier are more available.
