Petition: Keep Our Children in Schools Where They Thrive

We, the undersigned, strongly urge the school board to keep students in their current schools rather than moving them to new locations. The GECDSB plans to shut down one of the King Edward GAINS rooms currently to move to other, less competent schools.

Many children do not adjust well to change, and countless students have already experienced multiple school transitions. Stability is crucial for their academic, social, and emotional well-being.

Our concerns:

Stability and comfort: Students are thriving in their current schools. Frequent changes can disrupt learning, friendships, and confidence.
Past experiences: Some children have previously been placed in schools where they faced exclusion, bullying, or neglect. Moving them again risks repeating these negative experiences.
Impact on King Edward students: Students who remain at King Edward will also face disruption, losing familiar teachers and friends, creating unnecessary stress.
Community and parental feedback: Many parents and students are unhappy with the proposed changes, fearing the impact on education and well-being.
We call on the school board to prioritize the stability, safety, and success of all students by keeping them in the schools where they are already thriving!
