KEEP HALL GREEN WAITROSE OPEN!

KEEP HALL GREEN WAITROSE OPEN!
The Issue
Waitrose has announced the decision to close their Hall Green Branch in January 2025.This branch has been an integral part of our community for over 50 years, serving high-quality products and providing employment opportunities, all in a convenient location for many residents. The closure will not only impact the people of Hall Green, it will also affect those of Moseley, Kings Heath and Shirley who shop there.
Some Reasons to Keep Our Waitrose Open:
Community Hub: As long-time patrons of our local Waitrose, many of us have witnessed the invaluable role this store plays not only in our daily lives, but also in fostering a sense of community amongst its shoppers. Over the years I have seen employees and customers forming friendships, turning grocery shopping into an experience more akin to visiting familiar faces than a mere chore as in some supermarkets.
Employment: The store provides numerous jobs for local residents. Closing it would result in job losses, affecting the livelihoods of many families.
Quality and Convenience: Waitrose is known for its high-quality products and excellent customer service. Losing this store would mean fewer options for quality groceries and a longer commute to other stores, thus raising our carbon footprint.
Economic Impact: The presence of Waitrose boosts local businesses and contributes to the economic health of our area. Its closure could lead to a decline in foot traffic and negatively impact other local businesses.
On 21st August 2024 johnlewispartnership.media released the following press statement:
Waitrose to open up to 100 convenience shops in next five years
Waitrose to ramp up brand investment plans with first new stores in six years
London store transformed as part of the ongoing investment strategy in Waitrose shops
£1bn to be invested in new and existing shops over the next three years
In view of this statement and reasons given we, the undersigned, kindly request that Waitrose reconsider this decision.
