Update on the Petition: Keep a Post Office in the Town Centre
Thank you to everyone who has signed this petition. As of this morning, so far there are 690 online signatures and 252 in person signatures. I have been collecting in person signatures over several days, and additional signatures are currently being gathered at the Market Cafe. the Stone Cross Pub, and at the Gaytons market stall. Sarah, the market trader at Gaytons, has also been collecting signatures on Tuesday and again today. I will be collecting these additional sheets before the handover this afternoon.
I will be handing over the petition numbers and the in person signature forms to the Council Leader, Carol Dean, in Tamworth Town Centre this afternoon at around 2.30 pm, near to the Gaytons bakery market stall.
I also want to let supporters know that I have heard from our MP, who has expressed her disappointment about the closure and confirmed she is in communication with Tamworth Co‑op and Tamworth Borough Council to support work on securing a new venue. She has stated she will continue to advocate for residents and campaign for a new location to be found swiftly.
On Monday, I will share the combined totals with Post Office Ltd and the CEO of Tamworth Council.
Thank you again for your support. Your signatures are being used directly to raise this matter with the Council, Post Office Ltd, and our MP.
