Update on the Tamworth Town Centre Post Office Petition

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition so far. The level of support highlights the importance of keeping a Post Office in the town centre.  A total of 776 people have now signed, made up of 603 signatures online and 173 signatures in person. This shows how strongly people feel about keeping essential Post Office services accessible in the town centre.

Post Office Ltd has provided an automatic reply to my email confirming that our feedback has been received and will be included in their customer engagement process. This is the period where they gather comments from the public, councillors, MPs, and any petitions submitted before finalising their plans. To be honest, I had no idea this process was happening, as no public consultation was visible in the town centre as far as I am aware.  Their final decision about future provision of a Post Office for Tamworth Town Centre has not yet been announced.

Tamworth Borough Council’s Executive Office has acknowledged the petition and my email, and it has been passed to senior officers for consideration, and  a formal response will be provided in due course. 

I have also written to the 3 Town Centre Ward councillors Lee Woods, Natalie Statham, and Allen Copsley, as well as the Leader of the Council Carol Dean. I have not yet received any replies, and I will share any updates as soon as they arrive.
