So this is amusing. In this HubPages forum thread: http://hubpages.com/community/forum/135059/why-some-hubs-have-rear-ends--but-others-dont HubPages writers were wondering why some articles show gross images of buttocks with cysts (or something) in the "Recommended Hubs" section while other articles do not. The official word from Christy Kirwan, HubPages' Marketing and Community Manager, was: "Hubbers have brought up this issue before and we contacted Google about it to see why this keeps happening and if anything can be done (the Hubs you are seeing in that section are served by Google's recommendation engine). Google basically told us that these articles are getting the most clicks from readers and that weird and shocking images tend to do well. We want readers to click on those Hubs in order to keep them on HubPages longer reading more content, so while the images are distasteful to us and many Hubbers, Google seems confident that those Hubs are serving their intended purpose." Source: http://hubpages.com/community/forum/135059/why-some-hubs-have-rear-ends--but-others-dont#post2794729 I wanted to know what they were talking about so I check out a page and found this: https://plus.google.com/u/0/107889574670988423996/posts/3NuiFauWEqN HAAAAAA! Thanks for the laugh, Google. But seriously, I wanted you all to know that on February 12th, we had 86 views and 2 more signatures: https://plus.google.com/u/0/107889574670988423996/posts/gvD1rfUVGCu I have no idea how or why this happened, but thank you. On a serious note, there has been another wave of flak in the InfoBarrel forum: http://www.infobarrel.com/forum-topic.php?id=13409 Apparently Pinterest has blocked pins from InfoBarrel. And since Paul Edmondson has made "special arrangements" with Pinterest as stated here: http://hubpages.com/community/forum/135078/new-hubpages-sites-launching-soon#post2795432 I pointed out that fact (as well as my own problems with Pinterest). BTW, my issues with Pinterest are detailed in my article: http://www.infobarrel.com/Pinterest_Traffic_Dropping Well, I was reprimanded for even hinting there may be a connection (however, I DO feel antitrust laws are being broken). And since InfoBarrel's admin scolded me, one or two other HubPages writers felt empowered to bash me and my proof. I find this odd, since my petition is all about protecting other writers, their earnings, and their identities. Notably, I think some of them are from outside of North America (where their tax info and SSNs aren't required by HubPages). What's more, proof is circulating in the HubPages forum about current author numbers and content stats. Apparently, there are "fewer hubs and fewer hubbers than the first day on which the Squidoo import started. The site has reduced by some 238k hubs and 35k hubbers." Source: http://hubpages.com/community/forum/135212/its-as-if-the-squidoo-import-never-happened And people have been wondering why HubPages was interested in all that content in the first place. Especially since so much of it was unfeatured. It's clear to me though: user information (including SSNs, date or birth, etc.) and free content (from what HubPages considers "inactive" users) to profit 100 percent from. Oh and their charities, of course. It's always a bonus (I guess) to steal money that was apportioned to charity. In this forum thread: http://hubpages.com/community/forum/135227/transferring-hubber-information-out someone wants to know if it is "possible to change the PayPal user and tax user information on a hubber account?" (So far, no HubPages' staff member has responded). But, I think the answer is in their revised privacy policy (which no longer has a working link within their announcement of the new sites) Check it out here: http://blog.hubpages.com/2016/02/02/new-year-new-sites/ It states: 5. Choices, but I think they meant "No" Choices: "You may update or correct your Personally Identifiable Information at any time as indicated on the Service or by sending us an email at team@HubPages.com. If You or HubPages intend to delete any User Content provided by You, we cannot guarantee that your User Content will be completely removed from all User devices or from their web pages, nor that other Users will not misuse any content that You supply. In addition the other Users may have already copied and forwarded your User Content to others, making recovery impossible." Got THAT? "Making Recovery Impossible" plus HubPages cannot guarantee that others "will not misuse any content you supply." And that is precisely why I never joined HubPages. Oh and if you feel there is any hope that TatRing.com or PetHelpful.com will save them? Consider this, those domains expire in LESS than a year (2017-01-11). That doesn't scream any long-term commitment to me. Lastly, just a reminder: it's fine to have family members sign the petition. They have seen the turmoil you've been put through and it's important that the attorney general is aware of the impact on your family too. I'll be in touch, Rose
