Justice still matters
The Issue
TRIGGER WARNING - Rape, sexual violence
In November 2023, I was raped by a man I did not know. I reported the attack to the police and have fully cooperated with their investigation. After a long and difficult process, my case was closed with a decision of “No Further Action” due to limited physical evidence — despite the strength of my testimony and the seriousness of the allegations.
I have since submitted a Victim’s Right to Review request, asking the police to reconsider. The final decision now lies with a senior officer who has never met me and has only seen the case file. I am requesting a meeting with him so I can be heard — not just as a name on paper, but as a survivor asking for justice.
This petition is a reflection of the community’s belief that my case deserves to be properly reconsidered, and that survivors like me deserve to be taken seriously. It is also a warning: if this man is not investigated further, others may be at risk. I am asking for your support in showing the police that this case matters — not just to me, but to all of us.
What you are signing to:
We stand in full support of Madelyn Frear and respectfully urge the police to reconsider their decision to take No Further Action in her case.
We believe that every survivor deserves a fair and thorough investigation, and that justice must not be denied due to the limitations of evidence alone. Madelyn has shown immense courage in coming forward, and we are confident in her integrity and the seriousness of her allegations.
We are deeply concerned that closing this case prematurely not only denies her the justice she deserves, but also allows a potentially dangerous individual to remain in our community without accountability. The threat this poses to the safety of others should not be underestimated.
We ask the reviewing officer to fully re-examine the case, meet with Madelyn Frear in person, and take all possible steps to ensure this matter is handled with the gravity and diligence it deserves.
