Justice for the 78 Ragdoll Cats Rescued in Pennsylvania — Demand Cruelty Charges Now

Justice for the 78 Ragdoll Cats Rescued in Pennsylvania — Demand Cruelty Charges Now
The Issue
On June 15, animal protection officers and police raided a home in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and found 78 Ragdoll cats — kittens and adults — living in conditions the Pennsylvania SPCA described as among the most severe and unimaginable they had ever encountered.
Debris and trash stacked from floor to ceiling. Feces and urine throughout. Dangerously high ammonia levels. Extreme heat. Officers spent hours working through those conditions to find every single cat.
The cats were frightened, sick, and hidden throughout the filth. They are now at the PSPCA's Philadelphia headquarters receiving emergency veterinary care, forensic examinations, food, and clean bedding. They have never known what it feels like to be safe.
Ragdolls are among the most docile and trusting of all cat breeds — known for their gentle temperaments and their tendency to go limp in human arms. These 78 cats trusted the person responsible for their care. That trust was catastrophically betrayed.
As of now, no charges have been announced. Animal cruelty investigators are still reviewing the case. But the conditions described — 78 sick and frightened animals living in toxic filth — represent a clear and serious failure of the duty of care owed to these animals.
We're calling on Lancaster County authorities and Pennsylvania animal cruelty investigators to file the strongest possible charges against the person responsible for these conditions and ensure that justice is delivered for every one of these 78 cats.
