Justice for Daisy
The Issue
On Monday 24th October 2022, a young lady, Daisy Jepchumba, 22 years old was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Lodwar Town, in a neighbour's house, 2 houses away from her Guardian'shouse.
Daisy disappeared on Sunday morning as she prepared to clean the house. Upon returning from church, the guardians of Daisy found an open house and everything intact in the house.
The parents of Daisy are devastated by the loss of their firstborn daughter who was to pursue higher education in Turkana University College.
The suspect's of the hineous act that led to the death surrounding her mysterious death are out and enjoying freedom despite very concrete and strong evidence pointing towards elements of rape and stage managed suicide.
We cry for justice not just for her but for all who have been affected by the onslaught of rapes, assaults and death caused by Gender based Violence (GBV) in Lodwar town, Turkana County. Enough is enough! The authorities in Turkana County must protecte our girls, sisters, students and mothers who come to look for opportunities in Turkana County!
No human is above the law regardless of their social status and influence. We demand that the New DCI Boss Amin Mohammed Ibrahim who was appointed by the President of Kenya to act swiftly to bring the unclear circumstances in the public light so that the family may have closure to the matter and justice to be served to the killers our sister, daughter, friend and colleague the Late Daisy Jepchumba Losing of Leseru, Kapchinja farm. We petition the relevant authorities to
- Bring to book the perpetrators of those who killed Daisy.
- The Child Protection dept and GBV bodies in Turkana County together with the Turkana County Government to protect the women living in Turkana against sexual exploitation and harrassment.
- Take the welfare of the minority communities living in Turkana to be upheld and respected.
- Aid the young girls in Turkana to secure equal opportunities to explore their dreams and ambitions while living in Turkana county.
