Here is an update about the local case I posted about the other day....just as I feared, Kasey Wise got no jailtime for killing her husky by locking it in a hot car.
Here is the exact wording from the docket entry:
"DEFENDANT FILED MOTION FOR INTERVENTION IN LIEU OF CONVICTION, PURSUANT TO R. C. 2951.041. MOTION FOR INTERVENTION IN LIEU OF CONVICTION IS GRANTED. IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED THAT DEFENDANT IS TO BE PLACED UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE PROBATION DEPARTMENT'S INTERVENTION IN LIEU OF CONVICTION PROGRAM FOR A PERIOD OF 1 YEAR."
In other words, she got an intervention instead of a conviction....which means no jailtime and no real punishment. Keep in mind, she had TWENTY previous animal related citations from the past couple years alone. (Links to both articles about the original charges and the pretrial outcome linked below.)
Our animal cruelty laws have a long way to go before they will actually bring justice for the suffering these animals endure.
As for Coco's case, I submitted all 77,750 signatures from the petition and also 220 PDF pages of letters written for the judge to the prosecutor today. I have also attached the map that was sent into the prosecutor that shows every country that we had signatures from!
Let us pray that Coco gets more justice than that poor husky :(
