I just wanted to give an update and also share some information.
I am gathering everything to send to the prosecutor, so thank you to everyone that has signed the petition and sent letters to help get justice for sweet Coco.
Tomorrow morning is a hearing involving the case in Parma where Kasey Wise locked her husky in a hot car for hours.
There is a good chance she will get little to no punishment for the horrifying death of her dog.
I want to create awareness of the real possibility of no accountability because it sheds light on our broken animal cruelty laws in Ohio.
Here is the story: https://www.cleveland19.com/2021/07/15/parma-woman-faces-criminal-charge-after-her-dog-dies-hot-car-arrest-video-911-call-audio/
I contacted channel 19 news to see if they plan on covering the hearing tomorrow. As long as the weather doesn't hinder them, they will be streaming the hearing. I know it’s a pretrial hearing, but it is anticipated that judge Emily Hagan is going to be extremely lenient with little to no consequences. This case is also being handled by Cuyahoga County (just like Coco's case).
The woman responsible for the Husky’s death has over 20 previous animal related violations since September of 2020 alone.
We desperately need reform for our animal cruelty laws I will post the outcome of the case tomorrow morning because it may give us some insight as to how Cleveland judges are currently handling animal cruelty cases.
