Justice for Ahmed Rafay

Justice for Ahmed Rafay
The Issue
This week, many school boards are having Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. We urge everyone who stands against bullying to join us in signing this petition. We, the concerned individuals, call upon the Canadian government to take immediate action in investigating the tragic death of Ahmed Rafay, and we want Ahmed Rafay's family to be compensated.
Ahmed Rafay was a student of BSCS at Wilfred Laurier University Brantford Campus. He reached Canada on April 26th and went missing on August 6th, 2023. Police found his belongings on Rainbow Bridge and informed his family. According to the police, Rafay committed suicide by jumping off the Rainbow Bridge and getting drowned in Niagara Falls. His dead body was found on August 11th, 2023. Ahmed Rafay was aggressively bullied by his university fellows, seniors and classmates. On many occasions, they made very embarrassing videos of him. Afterward, they would share the videos with his social circle and ridicule him. Ahmed Rafay, a very introverted guy who even suffered from social anxiety, repeatedly told his fellows he would commit suicide. The university administration, despite being informed repeatedly, paid no heed. They even held a session with Ahmed Rafay but did not inform his guardians. They ignored the dire situation of mental health crisis Ahmed Rafay was going through.
Ahmed Rafay was a bright young student who tragically lost his life due to circumstances surrounding bullying. Our duty as a society is to ensure justice for him and prevent such heartbreaking incidents from occurring again.
First, we want the Canadian government to take immediate action in investigating the tragic death of Ahmed Rafay. The bullying by his university fellows and criminal negligence by the university were the significant factors in Ahmed Rafay's death. But the police have simply categorized it as a suicide case and failed to investigate the causes behind his death. Just because, during his lifetime, Ahmed Rafay was saying that he would commit suicide does not necessarily mean that he would. It could be a murder.
Secondly, we believe that the family of Ahmed Rafay deserves compensation for their loss. No amount of money can bring back their loved ones, but it is a gesture of support and recognition from the Canadian government for their pain.
We urge everyone who stands against bullying to join us in signing this petition. Together, let's demand justice for Ahmed Rafay, invest in investigations and education, and create a safer future for our children.
