Get 87yr old May Appleton back in HER home.
The Issue
On the 23rd March 2016 87yr old May Appleton was 'evicted' from her home of 61 years in Lostock Gralam, Cheshire. The reason for her being thrown out is because she is viewed by her housing authority (Weaver Vale Housing Trust) as being a 'horder' and her lifelong collection of memorabilia, a fire hazard. After 61 years May has not set her home alight. This frail old lady was forcibly evicted by Bailiffs and police officer using a sledgehammer and crowbar to break down her door. May and her 3 sons are now in a Travel Lodge until this weekend and have no home. This is a sad and desperate situation orchestrated by people who seem to be more concerned by Heath & Safety matters above common sense. Her understanding about Heath & Safety will certainly be different to those of the modern Heath & Safety obsessed minds of today and and this should be taken into account. Please sign this petition to put pressure on Weaver Vale Housing Trust and get May and her family back rightfully into her home as soon as possible which she has rented for all these years (a home I am sure she will have paid for over and over through the years of rent!). This is an extraordinary case and very, very sad indeed. We should all be concerned for the well being of this elderly member of our society. Please, please help.
