Ensure there is more awareness in schools regarding psychological bullying.

The Issue

Psychological bullying (emotional abuse) is a very misunderstood form of bullying. The law and most research does not recognise child-to-child psychological bullying meaning there is no legal definition for it. Psychological bullying has the same consequences and effects on a child as physical and cyberbullying. Children begin to question if they are the problem that people do not like them and whether they will ever ‘fit in’. Therefore the child starts to question their own existence which can lead to devastating, irreversible outcomes. There should be more recognition in schools and teachers should be trained in how to spot the signs of psychological bullying and how to deal with it effectively.
