CLASS OF 2020 DESERVES A PROPER GRADUATION

CLASS OF 2020 DESERVES A PROPER GRADUATION
The Issue
It’s not fair for us that the Class of 2020 doesn’t get to have a proper graduation. We didn’t work any less harder than any other graduating class. I know this is not the schools fault, but they need to do whatever they can to make sure we get a proper graduation; one that’s ideal. We don’t want to have any form of virtual graduation, that’s dead. We already missed out on a lot of high-school memories as seniors, however, we CANNOT miss out on walking the stage, no matter what. We haven’t been working this hard for 12 years for nothing, just to get our diploma mailed to us or for us to graduate on zoom. We believe that the school board should make it possible for us to have a proper graduation, wether it be in July, or even next year. Some of us have been dreaming about this day since elementary school. Seeing all our siblings and friends have their day. Hoping that ours will come one day. Every hard test and every hard class, the teachers would tell us this will all be worth it. You will be proud of yourself when you’re walking on that stage and everyone will be congratulating you for all your hard work. We waited for our day to come patiently, and now that it is fast approaching, our hopes and dreams are slowly being shattered as we hear all these “click to walk across the stage” jokes. l believe the class of 2020 deserves a proper graduation. One that has everything else that every other graduating class had. We don’t need a prom or even a senior party. Or all the other memories and experiences a senior is supposed to have. All we want is our graduation day. We don’t want to be the odds one out. We don’t want to be remembered as the class that never had a graduation. The class of 2020 deserves a proper and ideal graduation no matter what. And if we don’t, then the school board is taking away a once in a life time experience from us. When everyone else is talking about their senior year and graduations, what will we reminisce about? How we got ready and didn’t even leave our rooms before graduating on a video call. With no praise and no congratulations. With no hand shaking with all you teacher and principals. We deserve more than that. WE DESERVE TO WALK THE STAGE JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER CLASS BEFORE US DID.
