Jefferson Parish Schools- How many more?
On Friday, it was reported that the Jefferson Parish School system reported that 92 more students and school staff tested positive for Covid-19. Additionally, another 1,258 students and staff were asked to quarantine due to exposure. Despite these alarming numbers, the school system put out a statement saying, "We are encouraged by evidence that school mitigation tactics have been working..."
Though education workers and building leaders have done a tremendous job of doing everything possible to prevent this dangerous virus from spreading, we continue to say that a virus cannot be out-planned and out-maneuvered.
Even though several school board members continue to not wear masks during board meetings, we call on them to meet with Dr. Gray and call for 100% virtually learning for all students immediately.
How many more education workers and students need to get sick before our district leaders act? We as workers and our kids as learners deserve to be safe. The time to speak up is now.
