We are asking you to sign this petition if you believe that it is NOT safe for the children and employees of the Jefferson Parish Public School System to PHYSICALLY return to schools until there have been 14 days of no new cases of COVID-19 in the parish.With Covid-19 devastating families across our community, we cannot further risk the safety, well-being and frankly, the lives of our amazing students and staff. Districts across the country in different states that do not have the high per capita infection rate of the virus that we have here, have ALREADY announced a shift to 100% virtual/remote learning for all students this upcoming semester. Infectious disease doctors have stated that there is still so much that is unknown about the virus. What we do know is that the virus disproportionately impacts working class communities and communities of color. As concerned district stakeholders and as concerned citizens, we are asking that you sign this petition.
