This is a petition in order to help better our overall approach in handling the COVID-19 epidemic in regards to shutdowns. I’m proposing that both the state and federal governments do not impose statewide lockdown restrictions for each state in the US. But rather, we should only have lockdowns for those whom are the most susceptible to COVID-19 and it’s symptoms. If you’re above the age of 50 and/or currently have health conditions that could cause contracting the virus detrimental to your health, then you should have the option to:

- Quarantine indefinitely 

- Allow your employer to permit you to work from home indefinitely

- Receive financial aid from the state and federal government (if applicable such as a stimulus check)

For everyone else, we can continue to practice social distancing, wearing masks, and practice basic hygiene to reduce the spread of COVID-19. If you happen to have symptoms or catch the virus, you would quarantine as is for 14 days. These suggested new rules would allow many to continue to work and run their business’, returning to live their somewhat normal lives. This way the economy would keep running and we would still support saving the lives of our loved ones.
