At a recent community consultation held at Tottenham, it was announced that the towns of Tottenham, Albert and Tullamore would more than likely not see permanent generalist practitioners based in this area for a very long time. In the meantime, the people who live and work in these small villages will have to be satisfied with a string of different drive in-drive out locums and specialist consultations via Skype.

This is a serious situation as people prefer face-to-face appointments and having to use an internet connection and monitor is so very impersonal.

But there are solutions that can be looked at that would get patients and doctors back together again. And one of those solutions is to make it easier for patients to travel to their doctors instead of the doctors having to travel to their towns.

This is just another reason to reinstate passenger train services on the Tottenham Branch line. If we had reliable, daily services, it would be so easy to catch a train, even when sick, to travel down to Parkes to see a doctor.
