The Issue

In the vibrant and diverse city of London, and across the UK, we are witnessing an alarming trend that threatens our shared values of inclusivity and respect. Recently, there has been a proliferation of marches that have been deceptively rebranded as 'static' demonstrations, thinly veiled gatherings that spread hate and division under the guise of protesting.

These so-called 'static' demonstrations are anything but harmless. They compromise the safety and  of our community, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation,  impacting some religious and ethnic groups while giving a free pass to others who do not value our freedoms. It is disheartening to see the very fabric of our society under attack by those who wish to sow discord and intolerance, quite often in the name of "tolerance"

While the right to protest is a fundamental part of our democratic society, this right comes with responsibilities. The unchecked rebranding of marches into static hate demos not only bends the rules but blatantly undermines the spirit of peaceful assembly. The term 'static' implies a false sense of passivity, misleading the public and authorities alike about the true intentions of these gatherings.

The Home Office has a duty of care to ensure that all public assemblies do not compromise public safety or endorse hate. By issuing clear guidance and criteria for what constitutes a legal and safe public gathering, the Home Office can effectively address this loophole that allows hate-filled rhetoric to go unchecked under the guise of free speech.

We propose that the Home Office establishes stricter protocols and transparent processes to evaluate and authorize demonstrations. This includes preemptive measures to differentiate legitimate protests from those with malicious intent and ensuring law enforcement is equipped to handle situations that arise from such deceitful gatherings.

It is imperative that we protect our streets and our people, leaving no room for those who wish to intimidate and hide behind "diversity" or spurious charges of" racism" or "blasphemy" which apply to some groups and not to others. Join me in urging the Home Office to act decisively and protect our community. Sign this petition to make our voices heard and safeguard the future of London as a welcoming and safe place for all.
