28 sept 2021

Hello Friends,

Next Wednesday, October 6th, Ipswich Citizens for Sustainable Growth (ICSG) will be hosting a public event at Cedarwood Farms on Route 133 to update townspeople on our work and to raise funds to continue  legal efforts to stop or reduce the scope of the proposed development on the Bruni property of 191 units, 354 parking space.

Wednesday, October 6, 2021
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Cedarwood Farm
94 Essex Road, Ipswich MA

In addition to information about our work there will be live music by Labor in Vain and light refreshments. There will be no admission charged but donations to support our ongoing legal work will be gratefully accepted.

You should know what we as a group have been doing...ICSG worked for many months to raise awareness of the numerous ways the hugely unpopular proposed development can be stopped. Our signs are still everywhere in Town. We have brought many issues to the
public’s attention. We have engaged in good faith with our town’s elected and appointed officials. We saw hundreds of Ipswich residents attend the ZBA hearings. When the ZBA closed its public hearing and ruled on the proposal, the project then continued to the next phase--a series of appeals in the judicial system.

Our first step will be in Housing Appeals Committee (HAC) where the Ipswich Zoning Board has endorsed
the ICSG to take part (intervene) in that hearing. This HAC appeals process could take months or even years.

After that ICSG’s own court case, which was filed this past spring, will be heard. This case will address many
issues with the project including the zoning of two rural residential lots on the property, the strain that the project would put on the town’s water supply and services, as well as wetlands, and conservation issues.

ICSG very actively supports affordable housing in Ipswich. Our group believes that the Bruni proposal
is exploiting 40B legislation to create a project that is hugely out of scale for the area while not adding meaningful affordable housing.
The developer is even appealing the limited affordable housing that the Zoning Board included in their decision.

Please come join us and concerned neighbors and townspeople at Cedarwood Farm. You’ll see many Stop Bruni Project signs at the entrance to parking.

And thank you Stoney Stone for your beautiful photo of Ipswich for our ad.
Please RSVP by Oct. 1st to ipswichcitizens@gmail.com

thanks,
Chris
