For myself and countless other fans, the Deftones are our lifeblood. Their music resonates deeply with us and has helped us navigate through numerous life challenges. Yet, and this is astonishing, alternative rock and heavy metal genres have seldom been given the representation they deserve at the Super Bowl halftime shows. Our beloved Deftones, who echo the voices of millions, have not been extended an invitation to play.

Historically, Super Bowl halftime shows have been dominated by pop, R&B, and hip-hop music, seemingly oblivious to the millions of rock fans worldwide. According to recent stats from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), rock music accounted for over 25% of all music consumed in 2020. The fans are out here. We are waiting. We want to see Deftones on the Super Bowl stage!

The band is not only deserving because of their multi-decade career, Grammy-award winning status, and loyal fanbase, but they also embody the spirit of resilience, innovation, and unity - a perfect message for a nation-wide event like the Super Bowl.

For these reasons, we demand to see the Deftones play at this year's Super Bowl halftime show. It is time for change; it's time for variety.
