 What is the problem?

Pollution is an arising problem in today's world. Many people continue to advocate about this topic, however, little to no action is taken to solve this problem. Despite the effort of electric automobiles in America and advancing technologies to prevent further destruction of nature, many people continue to destroy and misuse the given gift of nature, creating a disadvantage for many people. Countries like India and China and are suffering a great deal of damage due to smog produced by East Asia. Manufacturing-led development has caused massive environmental problems in such countries. Local citizens are dying from a great deal of smoke, damaging their lungs, and are being limited from the source of fresh water, or even water in some cities. Citizens are not able to find the proper plantation to plant crops to get money for their families, and are thus, suffering in terms of poverty, etc. Moreover, countries in the West, like the US, are also being affected greatly due to Bejing's smog. This is greatly due to the trade goods being sent to the West. This will not only cause harms to Americans, but it will cause China's economy to shrink to about 2.6 by 2060. Manufacturing companies are causing major and disturbing weather patterns in the East, which is leading a significant change in global warming, or global pollution. The climate impact caused by manufacturing activities related to exports from developing countries in East Asia is greater than that caused by domestic consumption.

Why do I care?

As a native of India, I have seen the effect of pollution circle my town. The holy river of the Ganges has been polluted with smoggy air and plastic bottles. Houses are covered in dark mud, where particles of plastic, foil, and glass remain. The availability of water is so rare nowadays that India is estimated to not have drinking water by the year 2025. I come from a family that has a good amount of money and that can support others in terms of hard times. However, some families have been deprived of money and health, which all roots back to the environment they live in. The lack of fresh air has horrible effects on the health of people who work on farms or clean the dirty roads of India. I cannot bear to see this anymore.

Solutions (What can I do?):

  • A new arising technique that should be implemented to solve this growing complication has too simply become more nature reserved. Consumers should have options of go-green products to actually have the opportunity to cause a change. The goal should not be to make electric cars and natural fuel cost-effective, but it should be to make them easily available to low and middle-class families who could not afford such grand technology.
  • Adding more cows in these polluted areas can cause outstanding results in terms of the availability of water and greenery in these countries, as it has been scientifically proven by many past studies. The implication of cows can result in more trees and plants, which directly results in the fresh air.
  • The manufacturing-led companies should be placed on a limit on how much coal or fueling substance they can use. There are plenty of alternative energy sources such as cow dung and other purified materials such as seaweed, which is available in wide areas and spaces. The measure can be put on countries through the use of the UN and other agencies. Slow and minimal steps, like trade bans, and diplomatic talks can be encouraged.
  • Officials should install air filters in houses and common public areas. This idea is not only to purify the air but to get the origin of clean air. This approach can be an extension of purifying water in other projects. Air filters are not very costly, and they do not consume a lot of energy.
  • The last and final idea is to advocate. Despite the wide variety of efforts to help environmental crisis, we have to continue to talk and spread knowledge about these problems. None of these solutions are possible unless we advocate and talk for our opinion! We have to create and demand a call of action from our governments. We have to protest the extensive use of fossil fuels. We have to make our officials directly talk to China!

The call here is not to stop manufacturing goods, it is to limit the harm caused through the process which can easily be implemented, especially by Chinese manufacturers. Join me in this process, sign the petition to help East-Asian citizens!
