If you like birds…well, then you are gonna love the albatross. Did you know that the albatross has the longest wingspan of any other bird in the world? Of the 22 species of albatrosses recognized by the  International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), all are listed as at some level of concern; three species are Critically Endangered, five species are Endangered, seven species are Near Threatened, and seven species are Vulnerable.  The body length of the albatross is 107 to 135 cm. The albatross flies high in the skies of Antarctica.When they breed, they move to the islands slightly north of Antarctica.The albatross loves to eat squid. They sometimes even catch fish or octopus to eat.

The male and female albatross share the burden of raising their offspring. They take turns hunting for food in the ocean while their partner stays at the nest, watching over the eggs of hatchlings. The hatchlings are being threatened by animals brought by people. Their extraordinary wingspan lets them spend most of their lives in flight. The exception is when they go into breeding. That is when they move to the slightly warmer islands, than their native habitat in the Antarctic Ocean. On the islands they lay eggs and raise their hatchlings. However, those numbers have declined because those eggs and hatchlings are attacked by pigs and other animals that people brought to the islands.

The problem is that the fisherman are catching the birds on fishing hooks, and in submerged gillnets; and instead of the fisherman releasing them, they kill them for food. Another problem is that people are throwing trash and other junk in the ocean, and since there's a lot of plastics in the ocean it causes the albatross to choke and die. The solution is to require the fisherman to fish differently; and to check what is in the net while it is still in the water, so if there's any other animals besides fish, they can release it so it will still live.
